Let me tell you about multi-booting

Actually I need you to tell me.

Specifically I need help with partitioning.

I understand at least one of us has some experience in installing and running multiple operating systems... or at least, trying to.

Well, I've been stuck in both Windows 8 and Ubuntu on separate occasions and managed to get out of both (losing most of my files, thankfully not the .psds in the former case). I have mint and windows 7 right now. What do you need to do?

Well I'm going to try installing Debian, because I want something not entirely arcane to use, and I don't want something Ubuntu-based because I hear they've sold out.

I guess my main issue is the partitioning step. I'm reasonably sure I could do it safely, but if push comes to shove, how do you avoid losing your stuff? And how was your experience installing Mint?

All I know is that if you're careful with the Linux distro's instructions, you could easily get the dual boot set up. The first time I tried, I accidentally chose the other option and ended up masking Windows with Ubuntu. I don't think Windows was actually removed that time, thankfully.

I haven't been using Mint much because I don't understand how the get the tablet driver set up. Wacom's instructions are very hard to understand because their page just links to the storage page with lots of different packages or something.
